Today's reading includes II Kings 24; II Chronicles 36; Daniel 1:2; and Jeremiah 37 and 52.  Jehoachin and all who served him surrendered to Nebuchadnezzar.  The treasures in the Lord's Temple which had been placed there by Solomon were stripped away and taken to be used in idol worship in Babylon.  Only the poorest people were left behind in Jerusalem.  Mattaniah, the son of Josiah was made a puppet king by Nebuchadnezzar and his name was changed to Zedekiah.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zedekiah
