Revelation of Jesus Christ, Thursday, December 27, 2012

Today's reading is Revelation 1:1-3:22.  Jesus Christ reveals these words to the apostle John, perhaps around AD 95-96 while he was exiled on Patmos.  The writings are both admonishing and encouraging and are are written to the seven churches in Asia.  These churches are enduring persecution, a situation that exists in many areas today.

Three Letters, Wednesday, December 26, 2012

Today's reading is the three letters of John.
"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.  lEveryone who loves has been born of God and knows God.  Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.  This is how God showed his love among us:  He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him."  I John 4:7-9

Come to Mount Zion, Tuesday, December 25, 2012

Today's reading is Hebrews 10:19-13:25.  The curtain of the temple is torn in two at the time of Christ's death.  The curtain is the body of Christ.  Once offered for us, we are allowed entrance into the presence of God in the Holy of Holies.  I can draw near to God in full assurance of faith, having my heart sprinkled to cleanse me from a guilty conscience.
"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see."  Hebrews 11:1
