Scribes and Pharisees, Thursday, October 25, 2012

Today's reading is Matthew 9:9-17 and 12:1-21; Mark 2:13-28 and 3:7-19; Luke 5:27-39 and 6:1-19; and John 5:1-47.  It really struck me today that Jesus was "deeply distressed" at the stubborn hearts of the Pharisees.  They argued points of law with him.  And then, after observing his miraculous healing of a man's shriveled hand, all they could think about was how to kill him.  It seems impossible.
